2018 McLaren 570S Spider
The luxurious 2019 McLaren 570S supercar just got even more exciting with a convertible model—the Spider. McLaren has kept much of the performance of the 570S coupe the same, with the main differentiating factor being the retractable roof on the new Spider.
The roof will retract back into its compartment in just 15 seconds, and will do so at any speed under 25 mph.
The Spider holds the same horsepower and torque as the coupe model, at 562 horsepower, and 443 lb.-ft, respectively. They also both boast a 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds and can roar up to 100 mph in around 6.0 seconds.
The power of the twin-turbo, 3.8L V8 engine will exhilarate you at every turn. The acceleration and handling can pin you back in your seat like you are racing in the Indy 500.
The only sacrifice for buyers of this Spider version is 8 mph off the coupe’s top speed. The coupe tops out at 204 mph while the Spider, with its top retracted, will have to settle for around 196. Still, this model is packed with speed and power.
There has always been a debate amongst sportscar enthusiasts regarding the extra weight that convertibles typically carry, and the effects that has on performance. However, McLaren has outdone themselves with this vehicle. They created a version of a supercar with a retractable roof, yet compromised next to nothing in performance.
